Whew! March was a lot, right? Thank you to everyone who showed up and put their ass in the chair with us this past month!
We’ve tallied the results and taken your timing preferences into account, and we’re excited to announce our Spring schedule for Ass in Chair Collective meetups!
Wait, what is the Ass in Chair Collective?
In case you missed it, of The Long Pause and I launched The Ass in Chair Collective this month. It was honestly kind of selfish on our part: we both need a little nudge to begin our creative work, and we figured creating a coffee shop vibe online where we invited creative folks to work in community would help *us* get moving on our own projects.
So we threw together a Zoom series and figured we’d try it out; see if it took off enough to make it a regular thing. AND IT DID.
You all showed up in force with so many fun projects! Collectively, we made all of this happen in one short month:
55 hours spent doing creative stuff!
24 Morning Pages + lots of free writing to prompts
Hours of revisions on dissertations, chapbooks, memoirs, and essays
14 kinds of seeds planted for gardens
Paintings, crafts, and other visual art projects
New poems generated
Recipes researched and tested in home kitchens
Political action in the form of public comments and letters to reps
AND MORE
It’s extraordinary what we can do together, right? And it wasn’t just the work we accomplished— it’s how it *felt* to do it together. Don’t take my word for it— participants repeatedly said nice things in the chat like this:
"The energy of the group helped keep me going"
"I really really like the quiet company while writing. Can’t wait for the next one"
"This was so good for me today! I got a ton of mapping done for a series of interrelated stories I'm working on, and there are some good ideas there that add some tension, which I've been lacking!"

So, let’s make it official— our spring slate of Ass in Chair Collective meetups will take place each MONDAY at 12 PM EST.
Mondays are dumb and cruel, so let’s get together and make them suck less— steal that hour back over lunch or a coffee break, and set yourself up to prioritize your creative work each week!

Every third Monday of the month will be an open Ass in Chair session, meaning anyone can sign up for free and the link will go out to all free and paid subscribers!
The rest of our Spring slate will be for paid subscribers— just $5 per month (even LESS if you choose a yearly subscription) gets you 4-5 hours of community time where we’ll cheer you on and support your creative life—together! That’s way less of an investment than going to an *actual* coffee shop and buying an $8 London fog latte with oatmilk just so you can stare at your computer for an hour and then leave feeling kind of meh. (Just me?)
