Hi, friends & new subscribers! Welcome to Be Where You Are. I’m a poet and essayist & I teach writing workshops for the Madwomen in the Attic. My most recent book is the poetry collection, The Falls—you can find more info on Instagram or my website.
Today, I’m sharing the details for our first zoom workshop to write together a week from now, on Sun, Sept 29th from 1-2:30 pm PDT! Read below for details + a link to register 🔗
⚡Simply Begin Again: Generative Writing Workshop⚡
Back in April, I wrote about Joseph Goldstein’s advice for meditators— “Simply Begin Again.” I’ve been thinking about beginning again in a new way lately because I’m teaching a Generative Writing Workshop this fall for The Madwomen in the Attic. I’ve noticed that every writer in the zoom room (myself included) is trying to begin again after one—or many—things have stalled their writing practice. So, for our first virtual workshop together, we’ll show up to simply begin again.
Join us for the first (free!) Be Where You Are generative writing workshop on Sunday, Sept 29th from 1-2:30 pm PDT!
No grand, ambitious plans. Just bring yourself, something to write with, and a willingness to try a few prompts. No matter where you are with your writing now, or if you’ve never been to a writing workshop before, you’ll leave our time together with a few “starts” or drafts, and that electric feeling of connecting with others around art. 💥
I’ll share the recording & prompts afterward if you can’t make it! Subscribe to Be Where You Are to make sure you don’t miss any posts or workshops.
Please share the link with a friend that could also use a friendly kick in the butt to get going again. Hope to see you there! 💥
Be Where You Are is a newsletter about how to uses writing and mindfulness to be where you are. If you enjoy this newsletter, I’d be grateful if you’d like, comment, subscribe, or share it with a friend. You can find me on Instagram or Facebook or find more info at my website. Thank you for reading! 🩵
Is the plan to run more of these in future? I signed up but unfortunately the weekend turned out more hectic than planned so I think this is one time where I’ll have to pick sleep over writing!
